Artist, editor, writer, and free spirit. I am originally from Southern California but made Chicago my hometown in the late 1990s, right before the turn of the millennium. At that time I decided to quit practicing law to pursue creative interests and live as an artist. Since then, I have created and exhibited artwork, run an independent arts studio, worked in non-profit administration and alternative energy. I am also an editor who specializes in memoir and self-help books. For more information on my professional life, please visit my LinkedIn profile.

Aqua seafoam, burnt orange, salmon pink, cobalt night, dark soil, emerald, indigo, lipstick red, pale sunlight and much, much more make our physical world a visual feast if one knows how to look. The more one looks, the more sees the hidden colors that come together to make a leaf green or rose red. Yet we can only perceive them when we take the time to really look at what is and taking this time often means hours, days, weeks and even months. Photography and video capture images with a press of a button, making it possible to create a barrage of stylized images that purport to represent reality. Theoretically, one dab of paint on a canvas could be a complete image but this would never satisfy my need to explore all that painting offers. Feeling the brush stroke the canvas, mixing colors, and watching abstract forms emerge over time allow for exploration of color, line, composition, and form in a deeper, more introspective way. In this sense, the act of painting becomes a refuge from the stylized forms of photography and video that dominate our world.
